Nashik Road Railway Station
Nashik Road Railway Station (station code: NK) is the primary rail hub serving Nashik, one of Maharashtra’s most culturally and spiritually significant cities. Located approximately 9 kilometers from the city center, the station falls under the Central Railway’s Bhusawal Division and lies on the busy Mumbai–Bhusawal–Delhi and Mumbai–Nagpur routes, making it a critical link in India’s railway network.
The station handles over 300 train halts daily and serves nearly 7 lakh passengers, connecting Nashik to major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. With four platforms and seven tracks, it is well-equipped to manage high footfall and a diverse range of long-distance and express trains.
Originally established in the 19th century, Nashik Road Station has grown alongside the city. In recent years, it has undergone modernization, including improved lighting, escalators, lifts, clean platforms, and enhanced passenger amenities. The Godavari AC Waiting Hall on Platform 1 and Shanti Alay, a dedicated women-only lounge, offer a comfortable waiting experience with facilities like refreshments, charging points, and clean restrooms.
The station is also part of the proposed Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aiming for further redevelopment with improved connectivity, commercial spaces, and multi-modal integration. Plans are in motion for a pod hotel, better maintenance facilities, and a new terminus station to manage increased demand, especially ahead of the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
